Drivers expect a cohesive and intuitive experience across their in-vehicle infotainment system, consisting of the vehicle's system UI, the Google built-in experience and their favorite apps. To help maintain a cohesive car maker brand identity, we are introducing design tokens, a time-saving framework that helps you quickly apply your brand's look and feel across the entire infotainment ecosystem.

One source of truth for your brand

Tokens act as a source of truth, allowing you to define core design elements once and easily implement them across the car's IVI system and apps.

  • Unified brand voice: Tokens generate a unique aesthetic within Google built-in apps helping ensure that drivers never feel like they've "left" your brand's environment.
  • Dynamic and scalable theming: Customize and adapt theming to your brand identity comprising elements such as colors, typography, and corner radii. By simply providing car maker brand colors, Google built-in and Car App Library apps can programmatically generate cohesive, accessible themes.
